Composable Commerce Leaders:
UX/UI Insights from Alokai
Brand Overview
Alokai, formerly known as Vue Storefront, is a comprehensive Frontend-as-a-Service (FEaaS) platform designed to streamline the development, deployment, and management of enterprise eCommerce storefronts. Among its suite of tools, the Blog Page and Alokai Console stand out as pivotal components enhancing user engagement and operational efficiency.
Alokai recognized the need to establish a blog to share their expertise on composable commerce and guide businesses through the complex transition process. At the same time, they saw an opportunity to refresh the Alokai Console UI, ensuring it remained a modern, stats-driven, and highly usable tool for managing storefronts. These two initiatives aimed to strengthen Alokai’s position as a leader in the industry while providing users with clearer insights and a more efficient platform experience.
Alokai Console Redesign
Alokai Console is an innovative cloud-hosting platform that simplifies the management and monitoring of eCommerce storefronts. It provides developers and operations teams with a centralized dashboard to oversee infrastructure, deployments, and performance metrics.
The redesigned Alokai Console is now more in tune with the brand’s vision—delivering a seamless, stats-oriented experience while maintaining a strong focus on usability. The new UI reflects Alokai’s commitment to performance-driven, intuitive design, ensuring that users can efficiently monitor, manage, and optimize their composable commerce storefronts.
The redesign followed a user-centered approach, with iterative feedback loops from developers, eCommerce managers, and business stakeholders. We conducted:
User research & pain point analysis based on session recordings and surveys.
Wireframing & prototyping in Figma, ensuring a scalable and flexible UI.
Usability testing with A/B testing on navigation and dashboard layouts.
The result? A cleaner, more intuitive Alokai Console that improves efficiency, reduces friction, and enhances the overall user experience for managing composable commerce storefronts.
Designing the Blog Page
The Blog Page serves as a central hub for sharing insights, updates, and industry trends, fostering a deeper connection with the audience. In crafting this page, the focus was on creating an intuitive, visually appealing, and easily navigable interface. Key considerations included:
Responsive Design: Ensuring seamless accessibility across various devices and screen sizes.
Clean Aesthetics: Utilizing ample white space, legible typography, and high-quality visuals to enhance readability and user engagement.
Structured Layout: Organizing content into clear categories and tags, enabling users to effortlessly locate topics of interest.
Interactive Elements: Incorporating features such as search functionality, recent posts, and social sharing options to encourage user interaction.
Each article on the Alokai Blog Page is paired with a unique graphic that visually represents the content, making the page both engaging and visually appealing. These graphics are carefully designed to align with the theme of each post, adding depth and context to the written material. The blog page itself is organized in a clean, grid-based layout, ensuring that users can easily browse through articles in a structured and accessible way. This approach enhances the overall user experience, making it easy to discover new content while maintaining a consistent and aesthetically pleasing design.
Given the diverse range of users accessing the Alokai Blog, designing for responsiveness was a key priority. The goal was to ensure a seamless reading experience across desktops, tablets, and mobile devices, making it easy for users to engage with content no matter where they are.
To achieve this:
Fluid Grid Layout – The blog was designed with a flexible grid system that adapts dynamically to different screen sizes. On desktop, articles appear in a multi-column layout, while on mobile, they stack vertically for optimal readability.
Adaptive Typography & Spacing – Font sizes and line heights adjust based on screen width, ensuring legibility without overwhelming the reader.
Optimized Media Scaling – Each blog post features a unique graphic, and images are optimized to load efficiently across devices while maintaining clarity and impact.
The Alokai Blog Page and Console UI redesign were driven by the need to enhance usability, improve brand consistency, and provide a seamless, data-driven experience. The blog was designed as a responsive, visually engaging platform to share expertise on composable commerce, while the Console UI was reimagined to offer a more intuitive, stats-oriented interface for managing storefronts efficiently.
Both projects focused on clarity, accessibility, and user experience, ensuring that Alokai’s tools empower businesses through better insights and smoother workflows.
